I found out that there's no topic on Romanian officials from various royal organizations. Willing to fill in the gap I start this thread with posting a beautiful portrait of a certain official.
Who is that guy - what branch of service and rank? The seller I've got it from assumed he is an officer of Admin (Nachsub) - Intendenta.

Any ideas regarding his rank and possible period the photo was taken?
Here's the info I've got from the seller: "He is a Lieutenant in the Intendenta troops (Supply and Admin - Nachsub). I reckon is from the 1920 - 1930 period, judging from the uniform style". Could you please comment on this?

I would say the information and timeline is right  , the epaulettes have double wire that indicates indeed that he is an Lieutenant.

I assume here's a diplomat but I have absolutely no info about uniforms of this organziation. I set my hope upon you, Mircea

I'm afraid that I have absolutely no experience on the subject. :22:

Unfortunately neck award is unknown to me...

I searched a bit ... this is why my answer comes so late ...

Order of the Orthodox Crusaders of the Patriarchy of Jerusalem

here is the breast star http://www.emedals.c...g.asp?item=G108
and here is the miniature http://www.emedals.c...g.asp?item=G107

unfortunately I could not find the neck award, nor additional information on it ... !

3) Neck award is the Comandor Order of the Order of the Orthodox Knights of the Holy Sepulchre (Ordo Equestris Sancti Sepulcri Hierosolymitani). This award was established in the end of the XIX century and was awarded by the Patriarchy of Jerusalem approximately up to the 1940s and then again from the beginning of the 1980s.

Andrew, I am not shore  please take a look at this and tell me what you think.

Here is what I could find about the subject:
Order of the Orthodox Knights of the Holy Sepulchre is a Orthodox order and looks like this:

Ordo Equestris Sancti Sepulcri Hierosolymitani is an Catholic order and loofs like this:

High-ranking Romanian diplomat possibly an ambassador. Photo is dated 1938.

Awards are correctly identified, thanks for the identification of foreign awards!

Note that the shoulder belt is from the Serbian Order of St.Sava, Grand Cross Изображение which I also indicated with an red arrow in the image attached,
the breast star is also from Serbian Order of St.Sava Изображение

Mircea, you are absolutely right. Please have a look at these links:
http://www.emedals.c...g.asp?item=G108
http://www.emedals.c...g.asp?item=G115

That's what I meant in Post #3 http://forum.blockha...p...st&p=270004

Here we have Greece Order of the Orthodox crusaders of the Patriarchy of Jerusalem and it main element looks exactly like in my photo. So that means this diplomat was awarded Greece Comandor Order of the Orthodox crusaders of the Patriarchy of Jerusalem, am I right?

No, the Commander's Cross looks like this: http://www.liveaucti...om/item/8077182, black enameled cross and no green enameled laurel wreath.
I think we have here the Grand Cross, ”black enameled cross and green enameled laurel wreath

Here's another link: http://www.liveaucti...om/item/8077181
They state this order is The Orthodox Crusaders of the Holy Land (please find a scan attached)... I'm a bit confused :37:

I am also confused by the different name but I think the Greece Order of the Orthodox crusaders of the Patriarchy of Jerusalem is the more correct one.

One more question - any idea what could be the last medal in the bar of Ambassador?

Difficult to say, maybe Serbian, Peter I Coronarion Madal, 1903 http://www.emedals.c...g.asp?item=S340

All I can say is that he probably is a major (?) in Intendenta si administratie.

On the back writes ”Lt. Col.” - Locotenent Colonel.

Awards are Ordinul Coroana Romaniei fara spade оn grad de Cavaler (Model 1881) and Crucea Comemorativa a Razboiului 1916-1918.

:D

What did white shoulder belt signify

In combination with the epaulettes and time period, it must be Parade Uniform.

I assume that ranks in administrative service were different from the common military ones, do you have any idea of their correct names?

I am not aware of any different ranks.

And as usual I have a favour to ask you to help with translation!

În semn de sinceră prietenie/ Lt. Col. ?Iezunescu? Luca/ D(oam)nei și D(omnu)lui Meteleanu
As a token of sincere friendship/ Lt. Col. ?Iezunescu? Luca/ (to) Lady and Lord Meteleanu

Locotenent in M1934 uniform (?). Is it the M1931 visor cap he wears?

Could you please let me know his branch of service judging from the cockade?
